Project Outcome
Something bigger is being built.
Years of frontline financial mentoring experience. New challenges emerging in New Zealand. A different perspective from Dubai.
And one question:
What could financial support become if we stopped accepting the way it’s always been done?

One model cannot meet everyone’s needs.
So we’re building another choice.
Not to replace great financial mentors.
To expand access to financial education, mentoring and support — and explore what this space could become next.
Where it began
This started in the trenches.
Project Outcome didn’t begin as a technology idea.
It began through years of working with people and money.
In March 2026, Brett Cole returned to New Zealand and deliberately stepped back into frontline financial mentoring.
He returned to client work.
He began supporting, supervising and training newer financial mentors — and still does.
Get close to the problem again.
See what had changed.
Listen. Learn. Work with real people.
And understand where financial support needs to go next.
What we saw
What we found had changed.
Support isn’t always available when someone finally decides they’re ready.
Financial problems don’t conveniently occur between 9 and 5.
Where someone lives should not determine the quality of support available to them.
New Zealand is culturally and linguistically diverse. Financial support needs to reflect that reality.
Different communication and accessibility needs should not prevent someone from receiving quality financial support.
Great financial mentors can only personally support so many people.
Knowing isn’t doing.
Too many good financial intentions stall before the next step happens.
A concept we keep seeing
Financial struggle has a new face.
There is an increasingly important group sitting between traditional financial hardship services and traditional wealth advice.
They work.
They have careers.
Some earn incomes that once would have felt comfortable.
But housing, food, insurance, debt, children and everyday living costs are absorbing more of their income.
They may look financially fine.
Things can feel very different.
Many will never see themselves as someone who should walk into a traditional budgeting service.
That doesn’t mean they don’t need financial education, better systems or someone in their corner.
“The New Broke” is an EMPIXO concept, not a formal economic classification or income bracket.
The turning point
Back in Dubai, the question changed.
Going back showed the problem again.
Coming back changed what seemed possible.
“New Zealand showed me the problem again.
Dubai changed what I believed was possible.”
Brett Cole, Founder, EMPIXO
Back in Dubai, Brett was surrounded again by people building technology, businesses, education platforms and products for markets around the world.
He kept working with New Zealand clients and mentors. The problems he had seen hadn’t disappeared.
But the question changed.
Why is this so difficult?
What would we have to build?
Project Outcome grew from that question.
What if support could stay with you?
Imagine financial support that doesn’t disappear when an appointment ends.
Something designed around real life.
Something that helps people understand where they are, build knowledge, make a plan and keep moving.
Not simply information.
Not simply another calculator.
Not another budget that gets completed and forgotten.
Something designed around progress.
Understand where you are.
Build knowledge and confidence.
Turn goals and problems into a practical way forward.
Keep taking the next step.
Create more choices about what life can look like.
Learn more. Plan better. Take action. Create choices. Live the outcome.
Because financial life isn’t a straight line.
Act
Knowing what to do isn’t the same as getting it done.
The future of financial support shouldn’t stop at information. It should help people keep moving.
Aotearoa, as it really is
Built for real New Zealand.
New Zealand isn’t one type of person, household or community.
The future of financial support needs to recognise:
Technology creates an opportunity to design support around people instead of expecting every person to fit the same system.
Better access shouldn’t be an optional extra. It should be part of the design.
People first
Technology shouldn’t replace great people.
Great financial mentors matter.
Human relationships matter.
Community organisations matter.
Specialists matter.
Professional advice matters.
The opportunity is not simply to replace people with technology.
It’s to explore whether technology can extend what great people are capable of doing — and help quality support reach more people.
Human expertise should become more valuable, not less.
So what’s inside the case?
We’re not telling you. Yet.
Some things are worth keeping under wraps while they’re being built.
But we can tell you what we’re trying to create more of:
Starting in New Zealand.
Thinking beyond it.
Build with us
There’s room at the table.
Project Outcome won’t be built by one person.
The next stage will require different perspectives, experience and expertise.
We want to meet people who understand areas such as:
If you’ve reached this point and thought, “I could contribute to that,” we’d like to hear from you.
From “she’ll be right” to “I’ve got a plan.”
I’ve learned.
I’ve got a plan.
I’m taking action.
I have choices.
I’m living the outcome.
