The EMPIXO Scout
Meet Falco
Kārearea by nature. Falco to his mates. Scout by trade.
Falco is not just a logo character. He is EMPIXO’s Scout. Curious. Sharp. Independent. Always looking ahead.
His job is to explore, observe, question and bring useful things back to the EMPIXO community.
He’ll keep an eye on money, technology, financial products, risk, opportunity and the changing world around us.
Because the financial world is moving quickly.
And somebody needs to keep watch.
Falco Found Us
Falco wasn’t created in a boardroom.
The idea started a long way from New Zealand. While in Dubai, Brett had the opportunity to experience falconry during a desert trip. It was one of those experiences that stuck.
Falcons are extraordinary birds.

Independent
Powerful
Incredibly focused
But there was another connection waiting back home. The falcon wasn’t only part of life in the UAE. New Zealand had one of its own.
The kārearea, the New Zealand falcon. An endemic bird found naturally nowhere else in the world. And one that many New Zealanders may have held in their hands hundreds of times without really noticing.
Because the kārearea sits on the back of New Zealand’s $20 note. Money. New Zealand. Dubai. A falcon. Suddenly the connection felt much bigger.
Kārearea by nature. Falco to his mates.
“We built the wing before we found the bird.”
The Story Behind the Name
We Built the Wing Before We Found the Bird
The Wings
The EMPIXO identity already had wings. Our E with wings was part of the brand before Falco had officially joined the team. Then the falcon appeared. It was almost as though the bird belonged there all along.
The Nickname
In New Zealand sport, especially around cricket grounds and team environments, nicknames have a habit of sticking. So rather than giving him a complicated corporate name, we did what Kiwis often do. We shortened it. Falcon became Falco. And that was that.
His Role
He’s Not Our Mascot
You’ll sometimes hear companies talk about their mascot. We see Falco a little differently. Falco is part of the team. His position? Scout.

Brings it home
A good Scout doesn’t make the final decision for you. A Scout brings information back to the team. And that fits beautifully with what EMPIXO is trying to build.
New Zealand roots. Global outlook.
Why a Kārearea Fits EMPIXO
Sharp Vision
Falcons see things from a different perspective. EMPIXO wants people to look beyond the next payday and start seeing the wider financial picture.
Focus
When a falcon locks onto something, it focuses. Financial progress works the same way. Set the target. Understand the plan. Keep moving.
Speed
The world of finance is changing quickly. AI. Digital money. Blockchain. Falco’s job is to keep watching.
Independence
Financial education should ultimately create greater independence. Not blind following. Better questions and better-informed decisions.
“New Zealand gave us the kārearea. Dubai helped us notice him.”
New Zealand Roots. Global Outlook.
From New Zealand to Dubai and Beyond
New Zealand
The kārearea is an endemic New Zealand falcon, found nowhere else in the world. It sits on the back of the $20 note. EMPIXO’s roots are firmly connected to New Zealand, and Falco carries that identity wherever he goes.
Dubai
The falcon is deeply recognised throughout the UAE and appears throughout its national identity, history and currency. Dubai helped Brett notice the connection. Falco creates a bridge between two places that are important to the EMPIXO story.
Falco isn’t planning on sitting on a branch watching EMPIXO grow. He’s going scouting.
What He’ll Cover
Falco’s Radar
As EMPIXO develops, you’ll find Falco exploring across five regular areas:
🔍 Falco’s Radar
Things we’re watching. Technology. Money. Markets. Ideas. Changes that could matter in the future.
⚠ Risk Watch
Things worth being careful about. Scams. Financial traps. Poor habits. Things that deserve a second look.
🌟 Falco’s Picks
Articles, podcasts, videos, books, technology and ideas we think are worth exploring.
📚 Falco Explains
Making complicated financial concepts easier to understand. Plain English. No jargon.
🔮 Future Watch
AI. Blockchain. Digital money. Financial technology. The ideas that may change how we manage money in the years ahead.
Not everything Falco finds will be good. That’s part of being a Scout. Sometimes his job will be to say “Have a look at this.” Sometimes “This could be interesting.” And occasionally:
“Stop. We need to understand this before going any further.”
His Character
Falco’s Personality
Falco isn’t supposed to be a cartoon bird bouncing around every page. We want him to have personality without turning EMPIXO into a children’s brand.

“Sometimes you have to get above the noise before you can see where you’re going.”
What He Lives In
Falco Lives in Learn
You’ll see Falco most often inside the EMPIXO Learn world. That’s deliberate.
He isn’t here to sell you a mortgage. He isn’t here to tell you what investment to buy. And he isn’t going to fly in and pretend to be your financial adviser.
