Our Story
Born in Dubai. Built With New Zealand in Mind.
EMPIXO began with a simple question: what becomes possible when people understand money better, think bigger about their future, and know what to do next?
Our founder, Brett, spent more than two decades working across banking, lending and financial mentoring in New Zealand, and saw first-hand the difference that good financial education, the right support and a clear plan can make.
Then life took him to Dubai, a move made for his wife’s work, and one that opened a door he hadn’t expected.
Living in Dubai gave him the opportunity to step outside the New Zealand financial environment and look back at home from a completely different perspective. He found himself surrounded by a city built on ambition, investment, technology and a willingness to think big, and it planted the seed for EMPIXO.
What could we bring back to New Zealand?
Not Dubai’s financial system.
Not Dubai’s way of life.
But some of its ambition, global thinking and belief in what’s possible.
Today Brett spends time between New Zealand and Dubai, giving EMPIXO a foot in both worlds, grounded at home, while learning from the people, technology and financial ideas emerging in one of the world’s fastest-moving cities.

Looking across Dubai Down Town today, it’s easy to focus on the finished product. But what interests us is what came before it. Much of that extraordinary skyline has been created within a generation.

Splitting time between New Zealand and Dubai gives EMPIXO an unusual opportunity, building a New Zealand-focused financial brand while having a window into one of the world’s most international cities.
What can New Zealanders learn from this?
The aim is not to copy Dubai. It’s to stay curious, learn from the world and bring useful thinking back to New Zealand, helping Kiwis at home and abroad become more financially match fit for a world that’s changing quickly.

March 2025 – March 2026 • Dubai
The Vision
A full year of brainstorming, dreaming, and visualising what EMPIXO could become, and what it would take to build it.
April 2026 • Palmerston North, NZ
Coming Home to Build
Brett returned home to Palmerston North to lay the real foundations, bringing the right people together, and working towards registering the business.
June 2026 → Ongoing • NZ & Dubai
Building, On Both Sides
EMPIXO’s first company contract, and an ongoing rhythm, Brett moving between Dubai and New Zealand as the plan keeps turning into action.

Founder of EMPIXO
Brett Cole
EMPIXO is the brand we’re building. Brett is the person helping build its foundations. He spent 17 years in banking with Westpac NZ and The Co-operative Bank before becoming a Financial Mentor with Moneywise Manawatū, where he’s spent the last 5+ years supporting hundreds of Kiwis through debt, redundancy, housing challenges and rebuilding financial confidence.
He founded EMPIXO on a simple belief: information alone rarely creates change. Real progress comes from having someone in your corner who helps you see the path forward and take practical, achievable steps towards it.

Yvonne Cole
People, Business & Governance
Yvonne has been part of our business journey from the beginning. For more than 14 years, Brett and Yvonne have worked together behind the scenes of their business interests, navigating the realities of building businesses, developing ideas, investing, managing risk and balancing business decisions with family life.
She brings more than 20 years of professional experience across human resources, people leadership and management, in New Zealand and internationally, and is currently gaining senior management experience in the UAE, leading people from a diverse range of cultures and backgrounds.
A quieter but important role, providing perspective, challenge, support and governance as the business develops.
EMPIXO Scout
Falco
Kārearea by nature. Falco to his mates. Scout by trade.
Falco is EMPIXO’s Scout: curious, sharp and always looking ahead. His job is to explore, observe, question and bring useful things back to the EMPIXO community. He’ll watch money, technology, financial products, risk and opportunity. Because the financial world is moving quickly, and somebody needs to keep watch.
